Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the flow of work through the manufacturing floor by monitoring employees and organizing workflows. In the fast paced environment of the Medical Device Industry the Production Supervisor must be competent and comprehend complex operations, and be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.



1. Requires an Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. (5) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.

2. Five (5) years minimum experience in production for a small to mid sized manufacturing company, with a minimum sales volume of $50 million.

3. Must have a machining background

1. Direct the activities of any employees reporting to this position to include making work assignments, scheduling their hours, and making the most effective use of their time and talents. The supervisor is expected to schedule overtime as necessary.

2. The supervisor will be troubleshooting manufacturing problems in the machining of parts and provide guidance to the operators to efficiently resolve these problems. The interface with engineering is critical to insure proper solutions are in accordance with SOPS, work instructions and properly documented for future reference.

3. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining production to meet the shipping schedule. This can involve changing priorities on a constant basis as the situation warrants. The supervisor must keep the Director of Operations informed of any situation that can delay a promised ship date.

4. Training of new hires is an important part of the supervisor’s function. Time must be made available to advance the employee through the company’s program. Progress of each employee must be monitored to insure that progress is being made on a timely basis and employees are being motivated into developing as trained CNC machine technicians.
