At Pulse Technologies, we work with metals, precious metals, and plastic.


Metals are prized for medical device components because of their strength and proven functionality in implantable applications. We specialize in micromachining standard as well as exotic metals, including:

  • Titanium
  • Stainless Steel
  • MP35N® (nonmagnetic nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy)
  • CoCr (cobalt chromium alloy)
  • Exotics, such as Hastelloy® alloys, Inconel® alloys, Waspaloy® alloy, and Kovar® alloy

Our highly productive 7 axis combination screw/mill machines provide accuracy, consistency and high throughput when fabricating metal. Among the components we have manufactured using metal:

  • For cardiac – couplings, crimp cores, connector rings, sleeves, stoppers, termination rings
  • For vascular – distal jaw assemblies, keyed housings, drug-eluting stents (DES) tooling and fixturing
  • For orthopedic, spinal, and extremity – screw assemblies, hooks, cross connectors

Precious Metals

Pulse joins only a handful of contract manufacturers across the world with proven expertise in machining precious metals, known for radiopacity and biocompatibility, for the medical device industry. We work with:

  • gold
  • silver
  • palladium

Our multi-spindle machining equipment allows us to achieve precise, consistent results with high throughput. Among the components we have produced:

  • electrode tips and rings
  • helix assemblies
  • shaft assemblies
  • weld electrodes
  • crimp slugs


For high electrical and mechanical performance in device components, Pulse works with a wide range of plastics, including:

  • PEEK (polyether ether ketone)
  • HDPE (high-density polyethylene)
  • Udel® Polysulfone
  • Radel® Polyphenylsulfone
  • UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene)
  • Delrin® acetal resin
  • Polycarbonate

Our highly productive 5 axis pallet changer machines move plastic parts through Pulse Technologies innovative manufacturing cells at a rapid clip and allow for some assembly directly in the machine. And our engineers have developed precise techniques for creating sharp, burr-free features on plastic components during production. We also can arrange for irradiation of machined plastic parts.
